about the event.png

Sunday April 14th marked our second Colchester to Brightlingsea Hometown Half, and what a day it was.

Our 2024 Hometown Half was not just any running event, it was a chance for communities to come together, cheer each other on, and create memories that will linger in the air long after the last runner crosses the finish line.

The Hometown Half embodies Eveson Row & Co’s legacy of empowerment, connection, and leaving a lasting impact, ensuring participants not only revel in personal achievements and unforgettable moments, but thrive together.

Stretching from Colchester, through the picturesque Wivenhoe trail, tracing the coast through Alresford where the finish line sat in the quaint beauty of Brightlingsea, the route offered runners a scenic yet challenging circuit.

It was fantastic to meet all of our Hometown Heros who participated in the event and to see each and everyone over the finish line. We are so proud of all who were involved and we can’t wait to see a lot of people back again next year.

It’s heartening to hear our participants enjoyed the route as much as we enjoyed planning it. Our goal wasn’t just to provide an enjoyable run but to showcase the authentic beauty of the towns along the way.

Ecologi - Tree Planting

We’re proud partners in the Workhorse Legacy initiative, collaborating closely with Ecologi to contribute towards environmental preservation and advocate for necessary change.

Our efforts extend across the globe and right here at home in the UK. where we plant trees and support various sustainable projects. From renewable energy projects to community-based carbon reduction initiatives, and the nurturing of natural habitats such as wildflower fields, wetlands, and wildlife areas, we’re dedicated to making a positive impact on our planet.

We have partnered up with Ecolgi, ‘the UK’s leading all-in-one climate platform’ who are planting the trees for us.  Ecology focuses on planting trees all around the globe, so Asia, Africa, and Europe could all be potential locations for the Hometown Half 2024 trees.

In total we will be planting 510 trees from this year’s event, it is looking like our most likely location will be Africa and this will be confirmed soon. Once we have confirmation that the trees have been planted, we will be able to share a link with all of our runners where they will be able to see exactly where the trees are.

We chose to plant 10 trees per runner to ensure that every individual that participated was playing a small part in creating a better future. We wanted our runners to understand and support our steps toward environmental change while also communicating the message that if everyone plays a small part, we can make a huge difference.
